Define It:
Dating violence is when one partner tries to maintain power and control over the other through some kind of abuse. WARNING! Think u know what abuse is? Check it: Abuse includes not just physical, emotional or sexual but cyber stalking, text message stalking, and Facebook stalking. No one deserves to be abused. It is never the victim's fault and abuse is always a choice.

Romig Chooses Respect Video

The Java Team from Romig Middle School worked with AWAIC to write a Youth Mini-Grant from the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. The students received the grant and have been working all semester to educate their peers about dating violence and healthy relationships.

Funds for the Romig Chooses Respect project were generously provided by the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.

Special thanks to the Kroger Co. Foundation Fred Meyer Fund for donating
$20,000.00 to AWAIC! This generous donation helps to ensure the success of our youth outreach programs and other domestic violence awareness efforts--Thank You!
